Straight answers — no fluff. If something isn't covered here, call or email us directly.

Getting Started
Your first visit is a full 60-minute evaluation. Your PT will spend the first part listening to your full history — not just the chief complaint, but the whole story. Then we move into a thorough movement and clinical assessment. By the end, you'll have a clear understanding of what's driving your symptoms and a plan for what to do about it. You'll leave with clarity, not confusion.
No referral needed. California is a direct-access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a physician's referral. Just book directly through our site and you're good to go.
The best way is to book a free 15-minute phone consultation. We'll talk through your situation and give you an honest answer — including if we think another provider would serve you better. We'd rather you get the right help than the wrong fit.
Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows the area to be examined (shorts for lower body, loose fitting top for shoulder/neck). Bring any relevant imaging reports (MRI, X-ray) if you have them — the actual images aren't required, just the reports. That's it.
How We Work
Yes. Every single session, start to finish. No aides, no techs, no "go do these exercises while I check on another patient." Evaluations are a full 60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are booked in 1-hour slots, with treatment typically running 50 minutes to allow time for cleaning between patients. That's non-negotiable here.
It genuinely depends on your presentation — there's no honest one-size answer. Some patients see major progress in 4–6 sessions. Others with complex or chronic presentations need more time. What we can tell you is that we don't drag out care to fill a schedule. We'll give you a realistic estimate after your evaluation and update it as we learn more about how you respond.
We're generalist outpatient PTs with a strong bias toward complex, chronic, and previously-failed cases. Common presentations include: back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, knee problems (including post-surgical), hip pain, headaches, nerve pain, tendinopathies, and more. If you've been told nothing can be done — that's often when we're most useful.
Yes. Post-surgical rehab is a significant part of what we do. We work closely with your surgeon's protocol while applying clinical reasoning to accelerate your progress safely. If you've had surgery and aren't recovering the way you expected, book a consultation.
Insurance & Cost
We are an out-of-network provider. All of our patients do have insurance, but most choose to pay out of pocket for our service rather than getting low-quality treatment through their insurance. Some choose to submit claims to their insurance to get out-of-network reimbursements — and we make that as painless as possible. Our clinic pays monthly for the highest-tier “Pro” version of Reimbursify so you get the best possible experience with insurance reimbursements. Typically it costs the patient money, but as a Balanced Beast patient, you get access for free. You can also just request a superbill and submit it the old-fashioned way.
Yes. Physical therapy is an HSA/FSA-eligible expense. You can use your health savings or flexible spending account to pay for sessions. This is a great option if you're paying out-of-pocket — your pre-tax dollars go further.
Please contact us directly or book a free consultation for current pricing. We're happy to discuss what to expect before you commit to anything.
Yes — completely free, no catch. It's a 15-minute phone call to understand your situation and see if we're the right fit. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you and point you in the right direction. Book it here.
